Cascarones: A Mexican tradition for your Easter celebration

Photo by Vicki Adame Do you want to add a twist to your Easter celebration? Then show up with a batch of “cascarones.”

This is what we had when I was growing up.  It's a Mexican tradition.
Cascarones are hollowed out eggs filled with confetti.  The great part is that you get to smash them on someone just for fun.  It's a blast—running up on someone and SURPRISE!
Adults and children love them, because who doesn’t like a good laugh.   You’ll find cascarones at many Mexican Easter celebrations.  They’ve become as common as searching for candy filled eggs.

Cascarones are easy to make.  You’ll need:
  • Eggs
  • Glue
  • Confetti
  • Paint or Egg dye
  • Tissue paper
You can probably whip some up today. Here is one of the best how-to videos on Youtube.

 Enjoy and Happy Easter!
